Let's Make a Flower Star Ornament!

These instructions are translated from the original Czech instructions included in the DIY Flower Star Bead Ornament Kit. Use this translation, paired with the illustrations provided on the original instructions to make your ornament. 

The Flower Star Ornament comes together easily and is a great kit for kids ages 6+ with adult help. Kids will be able to do all of the beading work, and adults should help with the wire work. Just be careful and remember that the beads are made of glass and are fragile! 

Materials

To make the Flower Star Ornament you will need a Flower Star Ornament Kit and a pair of scissors. 

The kit includes ...

• 10 mm Round Glass Bead x 6
• Pear Glass Bead x 6
• 4-unit Banquet Bead x 12
• Long Rod with Loops x 2
• Beading Wire
  

Make The Star

Thread one Pear Bead, two Banquet Beads and one Pear Bead onto the wire, in that order, with the Pear Beads facing the directions as illustrated on the printed instructions. Center the Beads on the wire. (abr. 1)

Bend the wire so that the base of the two Pear Beads meet, and the Banquet Beads form a point. Twist the wire to secure. Thread one wire through one Pear Bead, pulling it all the way through. (abr. 2)

Now, thread two Banquet Beads and one Pear Bead onto the working wire. Again, be sure to look at the illustration to make sure your Pear Bead is facing in the right direction. (abr. 3)

Bend the wire so that that the base of the new Pear Bead meets the others. Twist the wire to secure. Thread the end of one wire through the new Pear Bead, pulling it all the way through. (abr. 4)

Repeat the last step 3 more times. You will have made 5 points on your star. For the final point, thread one Banquet Bead, then pass the wire through one loop at the base of the Rod, then thread through the remaining Banquet Bead. (abr. 5)

Twist the two ends of the wires together to secure. Do not cut them. (abr. 6)

Add the Beads

Now, we will weave the 10mm Beads into the Star.

Thread one 10mm Round Bead on a longer wire. Then wrap the wire around the base where two Banquet Beads meet. (abr. 7)

Repeat this step for all 5 remaining Beads. At the end, wrap the two wire ends together to secure, and trim. (abr. 8)

Straighten out the ornament, and you are all finished!  (abr. 9)
